What is it?

MORE

Futsal is a fast-paced, technique-driven sport played with five players per side on a hard court. Unlike traditional soccer, it uses a smaller, low-bounce ball designed to promote better control. Recognized by FIFA, futsal has its own international leagues, club competitions, and even a dedicated World Cup. Its rules are designed to keep the game moving quickly, with fast restarts that encourage quick decision-making and constant transitions. The limited space challenges players to focus on their technique, leading to exciting, high-energy play with lots of chances to score.

Rules

MORE

In futsal, some rules might change depending on the tournament, but a few basics stay the same. For example, players only get four seconds for any restart, which keeps the game moving fast. Teams also have a foul limit—once they hit five fouls, the other team gets a penalty. Goalkeepers can only get a pass back once per possession, so teams can't just sit back and defend. Instead of throw-ins, futsal uses kick-ins, and substitutions happen on the go, keeping the action constant. If you’re interested in all the official rules, you can check out the FIFA Futsal Laws of the Game

My son has been participating in Beestera’s futsal program since its inception. The coaching has always been fantastic, but we’ve seen a true transformation in the program itself- helping natural soccer players build their futsal-specific knowledge, tactics, and skill. The growth and elevation of this program has been evident, resulting in very competitive and successful tournament results that get more impressive each season. The program logistics are organized, coaches are communicative and supportive, and most important- the players have a ton of fun! Thanks to Beestera, my son was introduced to and taught a sport he now loves.

Beestera futsal is an amazing program that has helped both of my sons continue to develop their technical skills at an even faster pace. I have watched my own children and many of their teammates improve weekly in agility, coordination, and accuracy when it comes to quick passing and receiving . I can never say enough about the Beestera coaches. They continue to help these young athletes become more confident and dynamic players.

I love playing futsal because it's fast paced and I get a lot of touches on the ball in tight spaces.  I also enjoy playing the pivot position because I am a physical player and I like to find my teammates with a quick pass or take a shot on goal.  Futsal is so fun to play, I love the tournaments, and I think everyone should do it if they want to get better.  The coaches are awesome too!

THE SEASON

Our futsal season runs from October to February, with teams training once a week for 90 minutes. Each session covers technical skills, game-like drills, and scrimmages. Our program helps players build essential skills, make quick decisions, and grow confident in high-pressure situations, all in a supportive, competitive setting.

SELECTION PROCESS

Players are invited to the program by Beestera staff, referred by current players or coaches, or may submit their interest to be evaluated at a session. Based on evaluations, players are placed on either a competitive or developmental roster.

OPEN FUTSAL

We also offer open futsal sessions for players who are new to the sport or not yet ready to commit to the full program. These sessions provide a great introduction to futsal in a more relaxed setting.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • WHAT IS FUTSAL AND HOW DOES IT BENEFIT SOCCER PLAYERS?
Futsal is a fast-paced, indoor variant of soccer played on a hard court with a smaller, low-bounce ball. The game emphasizes quick thinking, precise ball control, and rapid decision-making. Playing futsal enhances players' technical skills, agility, and overall soccer intelligence, which translates effectively to outdoor soccer performance.
  • WHERE ARE SESSIONS LOCATED?
Our HQ is based in Albany, New York. Sessions are typically conducted at one of the Afrims locations: Afrims Colonie: 636 Albany Shaker Rd. Albany, NY 12211 Afrims Latham: 4 Jacqueline Ave, Latham, NY 12110 Afrims Malta: 2381 US-9, Mechanicville, NY 12118 Afrims Sports Park: 969 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Colonie, NY 12205 To stay up-to-date with the locations of our sessions, simply sign up to our email list. We send out a weekly email that includes the locations for the upcoming week. After signing up for a session, you will receive a confirmation email that also includes the location for that specific session. Please be sure to check your confirmation email for the location information before attending the session.
  • WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING TO THE SESSION?
Players should bring: Soccer cleats (or indoor shoes if training inside) Shin guards (Not if a 1:1 session) Gloves (If a GK session) Water bottle Proper training attire A great attitude and willingness to improve.
  • HOW DO YOU CUSTOMIZE TRAINING?
Players can specify a focus area when booking their session. If no focus is specified, we follow our structured curriculum, which progresses players through core development areas.
  • CAN I REQUEST A SPECIFIC COACH?
No, all of our staff members have been onboarded with Beestera’s philosophy and curriculum. Players will rotate between two coaches, all of whom are trained to deliver high-quality sessions, so you can be confident in the experience regardless of the coach assigned.
  • WHAT IS PRIVATE TRAINING & HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM TEAM TRAINING?
Private training focuses on individual player development through personalized coaching. It is the purest form of Beestera’s approach—focusing on the individual within the collective. Unlike team training, which may prioritize tactics and team play, private sessions help players refine technical skills and confidence in a one-on-one or small-group setting.
  • HOW OFTEN & WHEN ARE SESSIONS ADDED?
We typically run 1:1/small group sessions every day. The scheduling system operates on a weekly basis. New sessions will be added to www.beestera.com/privates on Saturday's @ 8am for the upcoming week. We will be continuously updating as and when more coaches and locations become available so keep checking the website for times. Subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to know when time slots have been added: 1. Visit www.beestera.com 2. Enter email address when it says 'Stay on the Ball'.
  • IS THERE A CANCELLATION POLICY?
We value your time and we would appreciate you valuing ours -- especially because we have many players who wish to book sessions. We want to be somewhat flexible, but a late cancellation means that we may not have the ability to fill that time slot, therefore: Cancelations received within 12 hours of the training session starting will be charged a full payment fee. Cancelations received between 12-24 hours of the training sessions starting will be charged a half payment fee. Cancelations received beyond the listed times above will not be charged. Rescheduling Policy We’re here to support your busy life, so you can reschedule your session, as long as it’s 24+ hours from the scheduled date. Contact james@beestera.com to reschedule your session. A request to reschedule a session within 24 hours will be considered the same as a cancellation and will have the same layered consequences as the cancellation policy listed above. *We reserve the right to make certain exceptions to these policies as needed such as a medical emergency etc.
  • CAN PARENTS WATCH THE SESSIONS?
Yes, we encourage parents to watch the sessions. However, we ask that parents do not provide feedback during training. If we hear or see a parent affecting the session (e.g., giving instructions from the sideline, making comments, or creating an environment where the player seems afraid to make mistakes), we may kindly ask the parent to step away for a few minutes. This ensures the player can engage fully with the coach and focus on their development without added pressure.
  • WHO ARE THE BEESTERA PRIVATE TRAINING COACHES?
All of our coaches are highly experienced, licensed professionals with extensive playing and coaching backgrounds. We have former and current head college coaches, each following Beestera’s philosophy of "Developing the Individual Within the Collective", ensuring a high-quality, player-focused training experience.
  • HOW DOES BEESTERA'S PRIVATE TRAINING FORMAT WORK?
At Beestera, we operate in a carousel format due to high demand. This means that two or three coaches are present at the training location, each working with individual players or small groups simultaneously. Players rotate between two coaches during the session, benefiting from different coaching styles and expertise. All of our staff members have been onboarded with Beestera’s philosophy and curriculum, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience. Regardless of which coach is assigned, players will receive expert instruction aligned with Beestera’s development methodology.
  • WHAT AGES AND SKILL LEVELS DO YOU WORK WITH?
We train players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to elite athletes. Our curriculum is adaptable to meet each player's unique needs.
  • DOES THIS REPLACE TEAM TRAINING?
Absolutely not. There are certain things in team training that we simply cannot replicate in a 1:1 or small group session. These sessions are used to supplement team training. If there is a choice between team training and our sessions, team training should come first.
  • WHAT IS THE COST?
The cost of private training depends on the number of players in the session. Our standard private training rate is $80 per hour, but the cost decreases when more players are added to the session. Small group training allows players to split the cost while still receiving individualized coaching.

Campers will then be given a specified amount of time to reply and claim their spot. If we have not heard back within the stated time period, we will move on to the next waitlisted camper. If a space becomes available within 5 business days or less before camp, we notify all waitlisted campers at the same time via email to register on a first-come, first-serve basis. We do not allow the use of cell phones during training sessions. Our on-site staff will put you in touch with your camper. If the matter is not urgent, please leave a message and someone will be in touch. If campers have any concerns such as grouping, homesickness, illness or injury, etc., please ask them to talk to their on-site camp coach or Camp Director directly. We are committed to making this a great experience for your child and want to deal with all issues immediately, which is easiest and most effective if done in real-time, on-site. If need be, parents may call the camp phone number and speak to a member of our staff as well.
